ISFB interviews
The role of the COO and the challenges of digitalization
What courses do you teach at ISFB? What are its features and strengths?
At the ISFB, I teach two courses directly related to my professional activities. The first deals with the role of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) in a bank or financial institution; it addresses the complexity of the role, with the relatively new challenges linked to management, constantly changing regulations and technological evolution, which requires a strong knowledge of the IT field. The second course focuses on the challenges of increasing digitalization and its impact on the banking environment. A brief history of digital initiatives is given, followed by a more detailed discussion of the successes and failures of digitalization and its impact on financial companies.
What are the advantages of this curriculum in terms of market needs?
I've noticed a real need for training in all the banking professions, which are sometimes misunderstood or idealized. It's a good thing that affordable training helps people to understand the complexity of today's bank, and all the processes, roles, responsibilities and projects that are essential for an institution that is part of the 21st century.
What motivated you to become a lecturer at ISFB?
I've always been driven by my passion for transmission and exchange, and being a lecturer fits naturally into such a framework. More specifically, the ISFB project and philosophy, with its distinct character, resonated strongly with me. Relying on people from the trade with significant expertise, focusing on the transmission of best practices, applications and know-how, proposing a part rich in interaction and giving great freedom to the trainer by providing support and tools - these aspects naturally appealed to me.
